De Quincey Co
.

De Quincey Co is Australia's leading Body Weather company.  Body Weather is an open-ended training which draws upon both eastern and western performance traditions. The company presents works with an ensemble of Body Weather Artists as well as with a team of Associate Artists from a variety of interdisciplinary traditions. The company's new developmental program and auspicing agency THE WEATHER EXCHANGE presents the works of independant artists based in Body Weather and related disciplines. Drawing on twenty-five years of professional practice, choreographer and performer Tess de Quincey established De Quincey Co in 2000.

Bringing performance and inter-disciplinary practice into different terrains and different countries – from city to desert – De Quincey Co has engendered a series of works concerned with ‘inhabitation’ and the ‘nature of place’. The company also maintains an emphasis on site-specific and time-based ‘durational’ works. Works currently in repertoire are listed.

THE STIRRING
...one of the most haunting and captivating dance performances I have ever encountered.
Daily Telegraph - Shoba Rao, November 2007

...This is a beautiful and unusual work, with excellent performances by the five dancers and some wonderful visual art as well. THE STIRRING is a kind of sensual history exhibition, tapping into not only the industrial past of the space, but also something more ancient in the soul.
Australian Stage - Tessa Needham, November 2007

FIVE short solos
I can't think of another 75 minutes in the theatre that yielded so many riches.
The Australian - Deborah Jones, June 2005

embrace: AN IMMODEST GREEN
...like a precious jewel
The Sydney Morning Herald - Jill Sykes, May 2004

NO COLD FEET
entranced for the duration.
RealTime - Keith Gallasch, May 2003

THE SCENT TRILOGY, Part 3 - SHIVER
exotic tableaux vivant… an engrossing and curiously memorable experience.
RealTime - Keith Gallasch, October 2003

TRIPTYCH
nothing less than the essence of life... Triptych stands apart for the superb quality of performance and visual presentation and the luminous atmosphere it creates... ravishing performances… the dancers are a marvel. It's a privilege to experience.
The Australian - Deborah Jones, November 2008

… it is an engrossing and energising experience.
The Sydney Morning Herald – Jill Sykes, November 200
